First Seal has not been seen at the races since autumn, but has been confirmed to make her racing return in the 2016 Golden Pendant field on Saturday, and will leave from the ideal barrier 3.

A Group 1 winner having taken out the 2014 edition of the Flight Stakes (1600m), First Seal returned to racing this year for a classy win in the Group 2 Millie Fox Stakes (1300m) before running second in the Group 1 Canterbury Stakes (1300m) on March 5th.

Placing a credible fourth in the Group 1 George Ryder Stakes (1500m) on March 19th, the Fastnet Rock mare sustained an injury during the running of the Group 1 Doncaster Mile (1600m) and was forced back into the paddock.

Trainer John Thompson is confident that the Golden Pendant is an ideal first point of call for First Seal this campaign and has booked Blake Shinn to ride the mare.

Thompson will launch a two pronged attack in the Golden Pendant after also confirming Zanbagh in the talent-rich field.

Beginning her career under the guidance of the late, great Guy Walter, Zanbagh finished second in two Oaks races as a three-year-old and has already posted a number of smart results this year.

Resuming for second in the Group 2 Guy Walter Stakes (1400m) on February 27th, the Bernardini mare finished fifth in the Group 1 Coolmore Classic (1500m) before returning to winning form in the Group 2 Emancipation Stakes (1500m) on March 26th.

Having ended her campaign a credible fifth in the Group 1 Queen Of The Turf Stakes (1600m), Zanbagh should find a good position off pace in the Golden Pendant from barrier 9 and will be partnered by Glyn Schofield.

Queensland mare Sold For Song is sure to have taken plenty of benefit from a first-up run for sixth in the Group 3 Sheraco Stakes (1200m) a fortnight ago and will return to her pet distance in the Golden Pendant.

Purchased for only $2500, Sold For Song immediately stamped herself as a standout for Kevin Kemp over summer in winning the Listed Gold Edition Plate (1200m) in only her third career start.

Resuming in late autumn for second in the Listed Mick Dittman Plate (1000m), the Collate mare ran second to Takedown in the Group 3 Gold Coast Guineas (1200m) before a lacklustre performance in the Group 3 Fred Best Classic (1350m).

Placing third in the Group 2 Queensland Guineas, Sold For Song returned to winning form in the Listed Daybreak Lover Stakes (1400m) before ending her campaign third in the Group 3 Sunshine Coast Guineas (1600m).
