2017 Golden Pendant Odds Update

September 21st, 2017

Eleven horses remain in contention for Saturday’s 2017 Group 2 Golden Pendant (1400m) at Rosehill Gardens following the early scratching of leading contenders Euro Angel and Lubiton and there is plenty of value to be taken from a betting perspective.

Omei Sword has yet to find her best form this time in, but she has firmed into outright $4.40 favouritism in 2017 Golden Pendant betting markets with leading online bookie Ladbrokes.com.au.

Omei Sword has shown outstanding ability throughout her entire racing career so far, but she has also been plagued by injury and unable to live up to her full potential.

Winner of the Group 2 Silver Shadow Stakes (1200m) before finishing second in the Group 1 Golden Rose (1400m) last spring, the daughter of High Chaparral resumed this year for second in the Group 2 Surround Stakes (1400m), but bled during the running of the Group 1 Coolmore Classic (1500m) and was again sent to the paddock.

Having so-far finished fifth in the Group 3 Show County Quality (1200m) and sixth in the Group 3 Sheraco Stakes (1200m) this time, the mare will need to improve if she is to return to winning form in the Golden Pendant 2017.

Bonny O’Reilly has so-far received the greatest market share of bets to win the Golden Pendant and has firmed onto the second line of betting at a current $4.80 quote.

Bonny O’Reilly has produced several impressive performances and results throughout her entire racing career, but undoubtedly her best form to date during the recent autumn and winter carnivals; posting three-consecutive wins including the Listed Helen Coughlan Stakes (1200m).

Finishing a credible third in the Group 2 Dane Ripper Stakes (1350m) before failing to fire in the Group 1 Tattersall’s Tiara (1400m), the O’Reilly mare resumed this time for a smart win in the Fiig BM95 (1200m) on August 25th.

Bonny O’Reilly was luckless in transit, but still managed to finish a credible fifth in the Sheraco Stakes a fortnight ago and should prove extremely difficult to run down from a good draw in the Golden Pendant.

Daysee Doom as continued to herald steady interest in 2017 Golden Pendant betting markets and is worth consideration for a bet at current $5 odds, or $2 to finish in the first three.

Daysee Doom is another horse that has undoubtedly found her best form in 2017 and she would not look out of place in the Golden Pendant winner’s circle.

Third in the Group 2 Millie Fox Stakes (1300m) first-up, the Domesday mare hit the line well for fourth in the Coolmore Classic, before finishing second in the Group 2 Emancipation Stakes (1500m).

Again finishing second in the Group 3 Godolphin Crown (1300m) on April 29th, Daysee Doom was sent to the paddock after posting a well-deserved win in the Group 3 Dark Jewel Classic (1400m) on May 13th.

Having resumed for third in the Sheraco Stakes, Daysee Doom will only improve into this race, but has drawn awkwardly in barrier 12.
