Bonny O’Reilly has so-far received the greatest market share of bets to win the Golden Pendant and has firmed into $4.50 favouritism at Ladbrokes.com.au, ahead of Omei Sword ($4.60), Daysee Doom ($5) and Dixie Blossoms ($7).

Will Bonny O’Reilly justify favouritism and win the 2017 Golden Pendant, or will one of her rivals post an upset?

Bonny O’Reilly ($4.50)

Classy mare Bonny O’Reilly has drawn ideally into the Golden Pendant field and will be rock-hard fit ahead of her third-up appearance this time in. The O’Reilly mare returned to racing in outstanding form early this year; winning a pair of talent-rich Sydney sprints before making a successful transition to black type company via a dominant performance in the Listed Helen Coughlan Stakes (1200m) on June 3rd. Third in the Group 2 Dane Ripper Stakes (1350m) before a lacklustre run in the Group 1 Tattersall’s Tiara (1400m), Bonny O’Reilly was tough to the line when posting a strong win in the Fiig BM95 (1200m) first-up on August 26th and despite weathering a tough run in transit in the Group 3 Sheraco Stakes (1200m) a fortnight ago, still managed to finish fifth. The horse should find no issue in taking up the running from barrier 2 and will be tough to run down late.

Danish Twist ($7.50)

Danish Twist struck on well at her last start and she should take wholesale improvement into her run in the Golden Pendant. The Dane Shadow mare has produced several outstanding performances and results throughout her racing career, including tough wins in the Provincial Championships Final (1400m), Group 3 Dark Jewel Classic (1400m) and Listed June Stakes (1100m) in 2016. The horse was luckless in transit in the Sheraco Stakes, but hit the line well to finish seventh and will take plenty of natural improvement into this race. Blake Shinn climbs into the saddle and Danish Twist will have no issue in performing to a high standard with only 56kgs in tow.

Daysee Doom ($5)

Daysee Doom is a mare than simply does not run a bad race, but she has been charged with overcoming a wide gate on Saturday and may need to do some work early. The daughter of Domesday produced several outstanding performances and results through the recent Autumn Carnival; running fourth in the Group 1 Coolmore Classic (1500m), finishing in the minors in each of the Group 2 Millie Fox Stakes (1300m), Group 2 Emancipation Stakes (1500m) and Group 3 Godolphin Crown (1300m), before ending her campaign with a smart win in the Dark Jewel Classic. Having resumed for third in the Sheraco Stakes, Daysee Doom will only improve at 1400m.
